The Sustainable Show House at the 2010 Sustainable Building Show is the protype of Solearth's forthcoming modular pre-designed house, it is a 3 bedroom family home comprising 170sqm part 2 storey and part single storey.
House PLUS+ is more than a house, it's a system for living sustainably and an environment for staying healty, positive and refreshed.
It can adapt to different site shapes and conditions and can even become a terrace for urban environments.
Built by Dempsey Timber Engineering, it integrates as standard the design appoaches, features and equipment required to live a healthy low impact lifestyle while contributing to the planet, using almost no fuel and creating zero CO2 emissions. As importantly, it's full of light, encourages seasonal variation in how one relates to gardens and the outside and is made of natural materials making it a delight to occupy.

Eco features (effectively quality of life/ future proofing assets) are;
Super wall
The H version is made of hempcretewalls )around a timber frame)
The W version is timber frame with sheepswool and other natural insulations
- Walls, roofs and windows are airtight but ventilation is designed to be natural and continuous using our special passive heat recoveryventilation system
- Radiant Centre - a radiant massive heat source situated to give constant (renewable) trickle of heat from the house's centre, elsewhere radiant wall heat delivery (Variotherm system)
- Passive Heat Recovery Ventialtion (PHRV). The system combines 3 simple technologies - pre heaters heat the incoming air, trap outgoing heat and refresh the house from all sides without reliance on pumps, fans or filters.
- Rainwater storage and use in WCs, washing machines etc
- Productive Roof - the house form integrates enough photovoltaic and solar thermal panels to potentially power the whole house and collect rainwater to radically reduce water charges.
- Dry Toliets - mixing nutrient rich waste and clean water ruins both precious sustances and House PLUS+ will show how a comfortable sanitary bathroom can be had with modern dry toilets )low flow WCs as a fall back)
- Energy ratings ranging from A2 Passive to A3 with natural materials and zero CO2 emissions in both cases
- On appropriate sites the house is designed to be extended
